This post was written by our strategic coaching partner Margi Bush of Wisdom Tree Coaching.  If you haven’t read Day One-Five in this series, you may want to read those first.

Today we will begin to explore our second theme, Self-Management.

This is Day #6 of a collaborative project with my strategic partner, Mack Munro, Founder and CEO of Boss Builders and Wisdom Tree Coaching.

As the Boss, knowing your values is fundamental. Values provide the framework you will use for decision-making when certain conflicts occur.

Be proactive and know your values. Most people don’t know their values until an event, circumstance, or person comes into direct conflict with a value and that doesn’t usually work out too well.

I encourage you to spend some time reading over the following list of values and use choose all of the values in the list, which resonate with you. It may help to think of the things that feel important to you and influence the decisions you need to make.

There may be other values, which resonate with you not included in the list below. If so, please add any missing values to the list.

Accomplishment, Accountability, Accuracy, Adventure, Affiliation, Authenticity, Autonomy, Balance, Belonging, Bring Your Best, Calm, Challenge, Collaboration, Compassion, Competence, Confidence, Courage, Creativity, Curiosity, Decisiveness, Discipline, Discovery, Enthusiasm, Excellence, Excitement, Exploration, Fairness, Faith, Family, Focus, Forgiveness, Freedom, Friendship, Fun, Grace, Gratitude, Growth, Harmony, Health, Helping Others, Honesty, Humor, Independence, Influence, Integrity, Justice, Kindness, Knowledge, Laughter, Legacy, Love, Loyalty, Making a Difference, Mastery, Optimism, Originality, Patience, Peace, Presence, Recognition, Resourcefulness, Results, Self-expression, Service, Spirituality, Strength, Tolerance, Trust, Truth, Uniqueness,Wisdom.

Next choose at least three to five values from your list that you would never yield on and write them down.

Here are some things to get you thinking after you choose your values:

  1. How well does your Boss image align with your values?
  2. What actions will you take for Boss image to be better aligned with your values?
  3. How are your values aligned with your organization’s values?
  4. What are your areas for changes?

Do your best to live each day in alignment with your values. Your values are your anchor when things are challenging and will guide you through your most challenging times.

You have 26 days left in 2018, take some time to understand your values.

We wish you a day of Intent Awareness, Innate Curiosity, and Best Choices for Meaningful Change. Now go out there and be a Great Boss.
