One-Day Storytelling Workshop for Non-Storytellers
Title: “Storytelling for Business: Learn It. Practice It. Own It.”
Format: In-person or virtual, 1 full day (two half-day segments with lunch in between).
Storytelling isn’t just for novelists or keynote speakers—it’s the most effective tool any communicator can use to connect, persuade, and inspire. Even trained professionals like marketers, preachers, and teachers—people who speak for a living—often lean too heavily on data, doctrine, or decks. The result? Audiences tune out. In today’s world of short attention spans, stories are what cut through the noise. They humanize your message, make it memorable, and move people to act.
This workshop is designed for non-storytellers who need to learn the basics and for seasoned communicators who want to sharpen their edge. In one day, you’ll discover the simple structure behind powerful stories, practice applying it to real business situations, and get live coaching to improve your delivery. By the end, you won’t just “know” about storytelling—you’ll have a story ready to use, feedback on how to tell it better, and the confidence to bring it into your next pitch, presentation, or classroom moment.
Half-Day #1: Learning Storytelling Techniques
9:00 – 9:30 | Welcome & Icebreaker
- Set expectations: “This is about practical storytelling, not performance.”
- Icebreaker: Share the last time a story influenced you (ad, movie, or a personal experience).

- The science: why stories stick more than facts.
- Where stories apply in business (sales, leadership, marketing, culture).
- Examples of powerful business storytelling.
10:15 – 10:30 | Break
10:30 – 11:15 | Anatomy of a Good Story
- Key elements: Theme, Character, Conflict, Turning Point, Resolution.
- Simple frameworks for business:
- The Story Arc (Hook → Problem → Solution → Impact).
- Before & After storytelling (status quo → solution → transformation).
- Short activity: break a sample “bad” corporate story and rebuild it using structure.
11:15 – 12:00 | Storytelling Techniques for Business
- Open strong (hooks that grab attention).
- Keep it simple & conversational.
- Using emotion without being “cheesy.”
- When to use data—and when to use story.
- Mini-exercise: turn a boring fact into a quick anecdote.
12:00 – 12:30 | Crafting Your First Story Outline
- Each participant selects a story idea (customer success, personal challenge, business win/loss).
- Work through a quick template to structure it.
12:30 | Adjourn
Half-Day #2: Practice & Feedback

- Quick tips for stage presence and delivery (body language, pacing, pausing, eye contact).
2:00 – 3:30 | Participant Storytelling Round 1
- Each participant tells their 3–5 minute story.
- Facilitator + group feedback: What worked? Where to tighten? Did the story connect?
3:30 – 3:45 | Break
3:45 – 4:45 | Participant Storytelling Round 2
- Participants re-deliver their stories with improvements.
- Focus on delivery, confidence, and clarity.
4:45 – 5:00 | Wrap-Up & Next Steps
